Always Follow Your Dreams

Always Follow Your Dreams

There were once 2 brothers who lived on the 80th level. On coming home one day, they realized to their dismay that the lifts were not working and that they have to climb the stairs home.

After struggling to the 20th level, panting and tired, they decided to abandon their bags and come back for them the next day. They left their bags then and climbed on. When they have struggled to the 40th level, the younger brother started to grumble and both of them began to quarrel. They continued to climb the flights of steps, quarreling all the way to the 60th floor.

They then realized that they have only 20 levels more to climb and decided to stop quarreling and continue climbing in peace. They silently climbed on and reached their home at long last. Each stood calmly before the door and waited for the other to open the door. And they realized that the key was in their bags which was left on the 20th floor.

This story is reflecting on our life…many of us live under the expectations of our parents, teachers and friends when young. We seldom get to do the things that we really like and love and are under so much pressure and stress so that by the age of 20, we get tired and decided to dump this load.

Being free of the stress and pressure, we work enthusiastically and dream ambitious wishes. But by the time we reach 40 years old, we start to lose our vision and dreams. We began to feel unsatisfied and start to complain and criticize. We live life as a misery as we are never satisfied. Reaching 60, we realize that we have little left for complaining anymore, and we began to walk the final episode in peace and calmness.

We think that there is nothing left to disappoint us, only to realize that we could not rest in peace because we have an unfulfilled dream …… a dream we abandoned 60 years ago.

So what is your dream? Follow your dreams, so that you will not live with regrets.

Tell me Pravsj how many people may get chance to chase their real dreams ? Especially ladies in India? Not asking this because i am a lady. But it is fact that it is always expected from a girl/a lady to compramise. This impression is so strong in our minds that incase compramise is not possible for her she felts guilty about it.

But I will remember the moral of the story always. Try to lead the life as best as I can….

    Ekdum correct saangle madhura….

I love whatever pravs said. From us the expectation is to always compromise in life. Before marraige by parents, after marriage by others…..
But you know what…I have stopped caring about those and have started living my life, but without dumping anything behind….I am living my life to the fullest ( a bit of compromising too in life though :)

Fantastic!!! really fantastic, both, the message it conveys and the image choosen to describe the message……

But you know what, as fantastic, it is to find out at the age of 60,that you can still dream…..that the time for dreaming is not over yet, and even better than this, is the feeling, at this age, of being completely free to do it and go after it, what I think is not easy, not to say impossible, at earlier ages….

  • Jaya said:

Thanks for a very nice story ..
But I have one question .. It is written that we feel unsatisfied about a dream left 60 years ago ??

Does it mean prior to the age of 20 when we did not live our dreams completely under pressure ???

    Please explain …

    Thanks
    Jaya

The story is actually reflating to the old folk who now only realize they are not doing good enough (wrong planning) when in young time and now suffering and keep on criticize about their children why don’t work hard yet they actually don’t know what happened in the world now since the technology keep on improving and they still thinking their own way out.

  • SV said:

i agree with madhura on this one….

a girl starts her life on the same ground as men…but slowly is drifted into a different world where responsibilities overweigh her dreams…she has to choose between two paths 1-which takes her towards her dreams and the other towards the happiness of her family…
she ends up choosing a path which never takes her anywhere close to where she wanted to be (mind it…its she who chooses the path…giving away all her dreams, so she can be a good Daughter, mother, wife n so on…)

isnt it difficult to be free, be what you want to be…(its not that easy for a girl to be a rebel you know…)

Nice. But preaching/moral has exceeded the story which should be avoided and be left to the reader for his/her imagination.
It blunts thoughts and leave nothing to ponder over.

  • PrinceG said:

    The story isn’t correct

They didn’t leave their ‘dream’ (and key) at age 20, they leave the pressure and expectations: that’s a good thing!
In fact, you write so yourself:
“Being free of the stress and pressure, we work enthusiastically and dream ambitious wishes. But by the time we reach 40 years old, we start to lose our vision and dreams (the key).”
This means you only have to go back to age 40 to find your dream back.
    ;-)

absolutely right.. i have experienced the same thing, n since i have started following my dreams, m a much happier and content person, instead of looking at others for my happiness.. i have started finding it in myself..which made me a much better human being, my acceptance level has broadened.

what we think as mistakes are lessons that god sets for us so that we could increase our understanding.

am still following my dreams..n each day walk at least one step towards them..:)
thanks for sharing this story, it again reminded me that m not supposed to stop :)
